In Ukraine, the number of patients with arterial hypertension is approximately 40% of the adult population of the country. Diuretics are one of the first-line pharmacological groups for treating hypertension.
Аim. To study the assortment, availability and consumption of diuretics in Ukraine within 2014-2017.
Materials and methods. Analysis of the range of drugs was carried out according to the information retrieval system “Pharmstandard” of the company “Morion”, consumption – by the DDD / 1000 inhabitants per day, social and economic accessibility for a monthly course of treatment – by the adequacy indicator of solvency (Ca.s.).
Results. The results obtained have shown that the assortment of diuretic drugs is rather large at the pharmaceutical market and is presented from 107 to 118 TN based on 10 INN. During the study period diuretics were mainly highly available drugs for the population of Ukraine. The most consumed for the monthly course of treatment of patients with arterial hypertension were drugs of loop diuretics – furosemide and torasemide, as well as indapamide referring to thiazide diuretics. Furasemide was the undisputed leader throughout the study period.
Conclusions. A significant consumption of furosemide is due to the presence of evidence of its effectiveness and affordability of drugs for the population.
